Mini Grant Program

ATTENTION TEACHERS!

Ten mini grants of $500 each are to be expended during the 2010-2011 school year for student-based projects nationally. Your K-12 school qualifies if you have students who are served by Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative (SIEC). Earlier in the school year, SIEC promoted a Touchstone Energy Classroom Empowerment Grant Program, but this grant program is different. It is sponsored and funded by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

The focus of the proposed grant should feature an investigation of the science of energy or electricity. Project ideas could include a study of the local geology, the history of hydroelectric generation in your community, or alternative sources of energy for the next generation. The project should be limited only by the imagination of your students and the resources you have available.
